Scooting and Rolling in the Superyard

Marshall is an active little guy. He will flip back to front, side to side, etc at any given chance or (try to) wiggle his way out of a diaper change. He is not crawling yet but I am sure he is fast on his way. If he sees something he wants from across the room he will roll and scootch to get it. We have put up a Superyard in our living room. If you don't have kids, it looks like a plastic cattle corral. You can buy additional panels and make it as big as you want. I am trying not to use a playpen as those are quite small. Of course this will all change when he learns how to crawl somewhere and pull something down. For now, we have a huge plastic corral in our living room as you can see in the background of these photos.

At the Pool

We were sitting on the bleachers waiting for our swim session to begin. Marshall was watching all of the activity around him and it was hard for me to get a photo with him looking at the camera. He seems to be used to being in the water now. He hasn't learned how to kick or move his arms yet and he seems to enjoy being in the pool with us.

I want FLAVOUR!

There will be lots more photos of Marshall in his high chair. I broke down and bought a new high chair for him a few weeks ago. I had one already but it was so hard to clean so I went and got a Fisher Price Easy Clean high chair at Babies R Us. It's great - I just snap the straps off and into the washer they go. Everything else is easy to clean and this chair seems to fit him better than the last one.

Marshall seems very interested in eating food with flavour. If we give him bland food, such as plain rice cereal, he only eats so much before his mouth closes and won't eat more. If it has more flavour, he gobbles it up. He tried and liked the steamed radish cake at Dim Sum when we were in Vancouver this weekend. He's pictured here eating whole wheat bread smeared with eggplant garlic hummus, Leerdammer (Baby Swiss) and later, Greek full fat Phage yogurt with organic apple sauce. I was at Trader Joe's and Whole Foods and picked up these items for him to try. He had fistfuls of bread and cheese and was gobbling up whatever he could get in his mouth. Our budding gourmand...

Trip to Vancouver, B.C.

We took at 2 hour trip north to Vancouver, B.C. this weekend. Marshall saw his Grandpa for the first time! It was also his first trip away from home. We saw my dad and his wife - they were visiting friends in Vancouver at the time. The first photo is of my dad and Marshall - he's holding his red envelope from Grandpa! The fourth photo is of Marshall and my dad playing with a balloon that my dad got me for Mothers' Day. The balloon provided hours of endless entertainment for him in the car. He even fell asleep clutching the balloon's ribbon as we crossed the border back to the U.S. We had quite a long wait at the Peace Arch today as you can see in the last photo. We will be making another trip to Canada by plane in two weeks. Stay tuned!

Water Baby

We have been going to a Tots Swim class for several weeks. The sessions are a half hour long and focus on fun activities in the water. Marshall seems to enjoy the classes so we will keep going so that he is used to the water. He gets so tired from the activity that he starts tuckering out 15 minutes into the session! We come home afterwards and he will nap for at least two hours after the swim class.

Today Part 1

Marshall has been practicing his eating skills. It is funny to watch him pick up his food as he does not yet know how to let go of the fistfull of food in his hand before he goes back for more. He will have a hand full of food and he'll poke the food around with his index finger and squeeze it in his fist until he gets it in his mouth.

Today Part 2

Here are some more photos taken this evening. Marshall still loves his Jumperoo but what is even more interesting is that he loves having his photo taken! He sure knows how to ham it up.
